When I browse forums, it's always an attraction for me to see a very active board. We don't need lots of members to make this place popular and thriving, but we do need to generate activity. Each of us who are members can help by exerting efforts to think of interesting topics, joining into exchanges in each of the exchange forums and starting threads in the General areas by thinking of things of interest they can post about.
AT was such a huge forum that it was really difficult sometimes getting to know other members. Here we have the opportunity of getting to know other members more easily, so that would be a way to generate some threads. We could post about our non-cartomancy interests, favorite books and TV shows, hobbies, etc.
I'm going to post exchanges and start a thread or two about other topics.
Some things I'd like to see here are threads about other members and their hobbies aside from the cards. Right now what I'm doing is making some heirlooms to pass down to my little crop of great-grandchildren. My great-grandson is having birthday #6 in October, my great-grand-daughter is a month old and I'm working on making everything for a doll house for her and I just found out that there's another little bun in the oven, making my son a grandfather (but he doesn't know it yet.) I started a library for Gabe when he was tiny. My great-grand-daughter is going to have a doll house with furnishings and characters I make myself. The new one on the way is unknown just yet for gender, but I'm making a beaded cradleboard as a family heirloom so he or she will have that when they arrive. The books, dolls and cradleboard are to be shared around in futures generations, I hope. I'll post a separate thread or two about that. One of our members on AT (I can't remember her name for some reason) makes doll houses and furniture. Maybe somebody here does that, too, and we can exchange tips.
Anyway, let's keep our thinking caps on to come up with lots of things we can post to make this a lively forum. I know we can do it.
We do have a board like that It is a sub board here in the general discussions. Labeled "Getting to know each other while chatting about nothing". I think they have posts about movies, books, quotes and all kinds of things
That is so awesome that you are making all of that for your great-grandkids. How wonderful would it be to have all those home made toys. My great uncle made one for my aunt, who passed it to her kids, who passed it to me and my kids. And now I have passed it down to my cousin for her little girls. It was well loved and worn, but everyone in our family as loved playing with it.
