A general chat forum is always good. And a advertisements section. Barb

Wow!! Such wonderful ideas I would really like to have a thread on spreads if possible. I created some myself so wouldn't mind sharing and reading the creation of other members as well . Hi! This has been added! You can find it under the Professional tab. And we did open up a board for spreads too

Hi guys! I know that everyone is asking about a trading/selling board for decks. And I wanted to let everyone know that I am working on it now. Give me a bit of time though before we start adding money to the mix here

The problem with beginner/intermediate/pro areas is that categorizing people like that is limiting. With everything all together in one spot, it's better for learning. The more experienced help the beginners and intermediates better if we keep those designations. It works for everyone as far as learning goes. I've learned from beginners and intermediates as well. Sometimes the fresh insights are a real eye-opener for those who have been reading for many years. Besides, who's to determine which members are beginners, intermediates or advanced?

I just read that last post of mine and it doesn't make much sense, does it? What I meant to say is just that it's hard to tell when people are intermediate and advanced. I guess people could choose their own category. I didn't for that post to sound like a put-down of the poster's request, but reading back over it, that's what it sounds like. I'm sorry about that.
I do think, though, that throughout the forums as they stand now, we've got a lot of categories that will have information for those at all levels of learning.

I'm not sure whether this goes against this forum's philosophy(?) but I suggest bringing back divination games (eg. "One card One Sentence", "Blessings", "The Person Below Me") to generate activity? 😇 (Maybe put it in Reading Exchanges so any divination method can be used!)

Something I'd very, very much like to see is a place where we can do holiday gift exchanges. It's always such a popular and heartwarming thing to do. AT stopped doing them a couple of seasons ago, but when we were allowed to do them, it was wonderful. it really helped people to forge strong friendship ties and it was so much fun. I'd like to do that again. If we have permission, I'll host the Halloween one this year, but I'll need to get started right now in order for the participants to have time to make craft items and get other small token things for partners' packages. We could put it in with games or have a specific place designated just for exchanges, either one. What do you say, our dear Admin? Can we do this?

My concern being how do we keep everyones addresses private and our members privacy safe?

I receive the addresses in a private message and then each person's partner's address is also given out in a private message to them. The only people who know all the addresses is me and I keep them in a private file that nobody else has access to. It's really quite safe. I make an opening post that gives the details of the exchange and reminds people of the importance of being sure they're package is sent out in a timely manner. On some of the exchanges we did at AT, participants chose to wait till everyone had received their package and then everyone opens them together, while making a post about what their packages contained. I did exchanges for Halloween/Samhain, Christmas, and then a little Valentine treat of some sort of sweet treats. Halloween/Samhain was always the "biggee" exchange that everyone loved most. The Yule/Christmas was second and the Valentine was a much smaller little gift exchange to just sample some candy or other confection.
I like the Secret Santa type of format. That way each person is given the name, address, etc. of their partner but the recipient won't know who sent their gift till the package arrives.
As for what to put in the packages---
Well, whatever you can fit into a small (or medium) flat rate box. If a person is overseas, we give them the dimensions of the package so they can find a similar sized box. Postage rates are so high that we might want to go frugal and keep the size of the box small. I'll go check postage prices later and we can decide when I post the thread.
Oh, and each person is to add a note for me of whether they have any allergies, and their favorite colors, whether they like incense, soaps, etc.
Did I forget anything you might have thought of?
